Question
The following question just came in:
“My question is what is the process for making the Italian veneers, ‘I know they are very consistent. I have used the Italian Zebrawood and like it. I am trying to explain it to others and I do not know how to.”
Thanks,
Bob
Answer
Engineered or reconstituted veneers are made from real woods. Generally the species are very fast growing which adds to the “green aspect” of the whole process. Without getting into a long and drawn out explanation the logs are cut up and re assembled into large blocks. During the process the material is dyed and manipulated to resemble a multitude of different species including woods like Birdseye Maple, Walnut Burl. Then finally sliced into finished flitches, which then can be assembled into veneer panels.
Thanks for the question!
