Designer Trent Hobbs designed this impressive buffet using beautiful American Walnut Veneer cross cut to show movement. It is centered with a diamond shape accented with Macassar Ebony Veneer. An added feature in the design of the Buffet is the gull wing side doors that open in an arched shape that follows the bow front of the cabinet. The Walnut and Ebony Wood Veneers were finished with a very slight Van Dyke brown overlay and high gloss lacquer finish. The top and bottom areas of the buffet were ebonized with dark lacquer to pick up on the Macassar Ebony Veneer and tie it in with the Walnut veneers.
This was a special order for a client who purchased a pre-war era apartment in Manhattan. He wanted a buffet piece larger in scale than what was available on the market with hints of the Art Deco movement to compliment his new home. The project took five weeks to complete from build to finish.
